Spring Skin & Wellness Tips
In the spring, the natural oils that your body loses due to dryness and cold begin to replenish. It’s important to adjust your routine to account for this change. It can impact not only your skin health, but also can help reduce hay fever and the increase in asthma attacks that are common in the spring months.
Take advantage of the moisture coming back into the air and get that healthy glow by doing the following:
Drink Chlorophyll water Chlorophyll provides vital nutrients to our body and our mind. It replenishes and heals from the inside out. Studies have found chlorophyll water detoxifies the liver and can help with digestion and weight management (a MUST if you are trying to lose the winter weight.) You can find it easily here:
Exfoliate – Exfoliating too often in the winter can dry skin, but is perfect for spring, and allows our skin to draw in the moisture and remove the dead skin cells that have built up over the winter months. Our Reveal Facial Exfoliator contains Manuka honey, pasture-raised egg, and Chamomile to gently remove dead skin cells and stimulate healing.
Sunscreen – the sun will be back out, though it may be in short bursts between the rain. Wear a light sunscreen to protect yours skin without being oily. Make sure it contains ‘non-nano’ zinc oxide and does not contain Oxybenzone, which is a hormone disruptor and is especially harmful in children, but can cause thyroid disruption with adults.
Eye Care- as the weather warms, we need to make adjustments to our moisturizer. While a heavier moisturizer is great in the winter, using this on the delicate skin of the eye can cause Milia or white bumps under the eyes. Switch to a light eye serum that contains hyaluronic acid and egg white to lift and firm without clogging pores, such as our Aloe & Cucumber Eye Serum.
If you suffer from hay fever and wake up with puffy eyes and case of the sneezes you know spring is here. The best defense in this case is a good offense. Use saline in the a.m. to naturally clear your nasal passages and eat more eggs! Egg yolks specifically are high in CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acids) which studies have found to have anti-inflammatory properties. This, combined with flax seed oil can not only reduce hay fever symptoms naturally, but can help reduce symptoms of asthma that are prevalent in the spring
